There are several types of curtains to consider depending on the practical use along with the style or decorative way that a curtain will accent a room. One of the more common types of curtains is known as a pole pocket. This curtain is made with a casing at the top of the panel that slides over a rod. This style of curtain eliminates any need for rings. Sometimes the curtain is made with double casings that allows it to be placed over the rod on the lower casing. With this style hanging, the curtain can be pushed creating a ruffle throughout the top casing.
You should first consider the size of the room you're decorating. Larger rooms deserve thicker drapes that use more saturated colors. Smaller rooms, on the other hand, need to feel spacious and therefore, require thinner curtain fabric with smoother texture, paired with lighter colors. Of course, this may or may not apply to all households. Spacious, but wooden rooms look better with lighter shades, since the wood's varnish coating already gives the room its warm hue. Modern rooms nowadays employ a one-to-two color scheme, thereby making stand-out home accessories imperative. Curtains for these minimalist design homes need to have an ambient color - anywhere between the focal point of orange, brown and maroon. But there cases wherein there is no need for curtains, especially if beyond the windows is a spectacular view of the sea or an empowering view of the city.
